Back To Reality

Well, after a long weekend it's back to reality.  Back to the pool and back to chaos and craziness.  It's my normal though!

I am glad that I decided to just do the bike this week and give my ankle a break.  I woke up and my ankle was a bit swollen and tender.  The bruise is healing though.  It was just a really deep bruise.  I got the gym and did 10 miles on the recumbent bike.  I didn't push it too hard this morning since I ran a race yesterday.  It felt good to just read and go at an okay pace.  It got all the stiffness out and just got me ready for the day.

I do have a massage scheduled for today so that's going to be awesome!  It's later on this morning and it will also help work out some kinks in my legs.

Today I'm spending the day finishing up the laundry and working on the newsletter.  It goes out next week so I need to finish up my stuff.  I don't go into the office today so I can get some things done at home while getting home things done.

Tomorrow is my long day and I have to find a time to run home to let the dogs out since Mike is gone this week.  I feel bad when he's out of town and they are alone on Wednesdays for so long.  The other days are okay, but Wednesdays are long.

Tomorrow is also my rest day, but I may see if I can sneak a brisk walk in the arboreteum in before I start doing office work.  I won't run, but a walk would be nice.  I'll have to see though.

Thursday and Friday I'm back on the bike.  Friday I head to Buffalo for a swim meet so Saturday and Sunday I'll get in the fitness room at the hotel and get on a bike or go for a short run on the treadmill.  Next week I'm on a training schedule for my first goal race in January, the Robbie Burns 8k.

Off to get ready for my massage.  Have a great day!

Four More Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 4 more days to the Warrior Dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!  James is really excited too.

Today I made the t-shirt for James that he wanted for the Warrior Dash.  As Mike said, "He's a hippy Warrior."

Here is the front.  I did this.

The back is what James did tonight.

He said there is still more that he has to do to the top because there is an open space up there.  He loves doing these shirts.  Later this summer we are going to tye-dye shirts.  He said he would like to try that.  It will be a lot of fun.  I like doing stuff like this as well.

Today was a slow day.  I caught up on laundry and got a few things picked up.  My excitement was having to call the police this morning when someone hit a parked car in front of our house.  He had to be going really fast because he did a lot of damage to his car.

We took the dogs for a short walk tonight.  We kept it short because it was hot and humid.  They still enjoyed it.  Tomorrow I'm at Open Water Provincials.  It should be fun.  Just gotta remember my sun screen.

We have a very busy few weeks coming up, but they will be lots of fun!

Happy Canada Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Canada Day!  I got to spend the afternoon at the Provincial swim meet.  It was nice.  Wasn't crazy about the parking lot though.  There was a ribfest going on at the same location so it was just a mess.  I was lucky that I got a parking spot almost right away.  Getting out was a test of paitence though.  People just don't like to wait when its crowded.  They have to be rude and just try to rush.  There is no where to rush too because it's crowded.  Just sit and wait like everyone else and you'll get there a lot faster.

Once I got home, Mike grilled steaks and aspargus.  It was soooooooo good!  I love using the grill in the summer.  It keeps the house cool and food just tastes amazing.

After dinner we took the dogs for their nightly walk.  We walked 2 miles tonight.  They are getting into the habit of knowing that after we pick up from dinner they get to go for a walk.  They were prodding us to the door tonight.  Walking them is sometimes like walking 2 of the 3 Stooges.  They just tumble over each other, walk right into each other, push and shove each other.  It's funny to watch.

Tonight we were going to go see some fireworks, but we both decided that we just wanted to stay in and watch movies.  I'm all for that.  After dealing with crowds earlier I don't know that I'm much in the mood for dealing with them tonight.

Tomorrow I am getting up and going for a run then running a few errands before we go to a wedding.  Its supposed to be hot and humid so I'm really not looking forward to that part.  My dress is light enough that I should feel to hot, but still I feel sorry for Mike.  We'll be fine and have lots of fun though.

Sunday we're planning on doing a bit of work around the house so we'll stay close.  Just kind of day and we both need it.  Monday I'm doing a Fourth of July cookout and I can't wait.  I've been feeling a bit homesick for Virginia and the USA so I'm going to bring a bit of it up here.

8 more days until the Warrior Dash!!!!!!!  I'm getting really really pumped for it too.  The weather is supposed to be mild so that's a blessing.  I run at 10:00 am and that will help as well.

Busy July and today is just the start! I can't wait!!!!!

12 More Days

This past winter I signed up for the Warrior Dash.  It's basically a 5k with obstacles.  Well, only 12 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have James that weekend so we're making it a fun little trip.  Its in Barrie so we're going to stay in a hotel on Friday and then I run Saturday morning at 10am!

To that end, I got up and ran almost 2.5 miles this morning.  It felt good, but I can tell you that I didn't want to go at all.  Mike finally asked me if I was getting up to run or not.  I'm glad he did because I felt really good.  Tomorrow morning I have practice, but when I get home I'll put on my running shoes and head out.  It will be later in the morning, but still should be calm and quiet.  I actually may head over to Huron Park and get a trail run in.  I have my first trail run in 3 weeks.  I'm a bit nervous about that, but it should still be fun.

Today is a busy day of grocery shopping, cleaning, and making 300 flyers for the swim team.  I have practice this afternoon.  It's my groups last long course practice until next season.  Should be fun!

James has 2 more days of school, today and Wednesday then he'll be a first grader!  He's very excited to get to "actually learn something."  He is convinced that he didn't learn anything in SK.

Summer is off and running at a sprint!  Can't wait to enjoy every minute of it!

It's too cold!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes...way too cold.  We are supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow morning.  I'm so over snow now.  It's almost May!  Where's the warm weather!!!!!!

On a lighter note, I got my Bondi Bands today!!!!!!!!!!  They are really neat headbands that help keep the hair and sweat out of my eyes.  Yes, they are sweat bands, but made out of a better material and they can be used as ear warmers.  The also have hats and other items.  I love them and am sitting here wearing one now.  Yes, I am a geek!  Here is a link to their website http://www.bondiband.com/

So I haven't gotten a single run/ride in this week.  I'm such a lazy bum.  I haven't been sleeping well since we got back from Team Champs.  I'm hoping that that gets fixed tonight.  Friday we are going to Niagara Falls for the day.  I will get a lot of walking in that day.  Saturday I'm hoping to get a run in.  Sunday we go to Pat and Kristie's house for Easter.  Monday I should be back on schedule.

For the month of May I actually have a somewhat normal swim schedule.  That will be so nice.  I have been trying to plan everything out for the next few month.  I will be in meetings and training throught May, swim meets in June, and running races in July.  It gets really crazy!

My next race is May 1st.  I'm running a 5k and Mike and James are running a 3k.  James is really excited.  I'm glad that we aren't running at the same time so I can take pictures as they start/finish.  I am excited that he wants to run with me.  By the end of the summer he will have run 3 races; a 3k, a 5k and a 1k.  He will really enjoy it.  Once school is out, I will take him out a few evenings a week for short runs.

I'm glad I have Friday off.  I think it's a well needed rest.

Blah...

I feel like such a slug since I haven't had a chance to do anything active this week.  I've been finishing up the newsletter for the swim team.  It's done!

Last night I got no sleep.  I couldn't fall asleep at all and when I did I kept waking up.  It was not fun.  Today has been my long day at the University and I haven't had a chance to get anything to eat.  I'm craving a huge salad.  Yummy!

Tonight I would like to get the dogs out for a walk and I just may have to do it in the dark, but I need to get some form of exercise.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get a run in.

Upcoming Week

It's going to be one crazy week this week.  I have to cover a morning practice tomorrow morning so I'll get on the recumbent stationary bike and try to get 10 miles in.  Then since it's supposed to be nice I'll get the dogs out for a long walk in the afternoon.  Tuesday and Wednesday will pretty much be the same.

I will finish up the newsletter as well.  It has to go out on Wednesday so I'll finish that up tomorrow and add the last minute stuff on Tuesday.  That will take up some time.

Mike leaves for Syracuse and Ottawa tomorrow and will be gone all week.  I want to get a bit of cleaning and laundry done as well.  Wednesday is shot since I'm at the University all day.  Thursday we leave for Sudbury so I have to drop the dogs off at the doggy hotel.

I won't get home until around 3-4 am on Monday morning.  I plan on just staying up until Mike and James leave then I will crash.  I'm taking my running stuff in hopes of getting a run in on Friday and Saturday.  Right now the exercise is really helping me stay sane with all this craziness.

My next race is May 1st.  I have to get at least a 34:00 on this 5K.  Plus Mike and James will be running a 3.5k.  It should be fun!

Hump Day!

What I thought was going to be an icky day has started becoming a pretty good day.  I got up at 2:45 thinking I was late for practice.  When I realized I could sleep for another hour it was hard for me to fall back asleep.  I had just gotten back into a good sleep when my alarm went off.  I was not a happy person, but I got up.

Luckily I had gotten James' lunch and the casserole for dinner made up last night.  I was moving in slow motion this morning.  I left and got 2 cups of coffee and a protein bar for breakfast.  I needed all the help I could get.

I had to supervise the weight room for 5 of the University swimmers.  It was all I could do to stay awake.  I came down to the office at 6:30 and got some emails answered.  Then I got to have fun!

I went to ride the recumbent bike.  I got my book and started pedaling.  I rode for 40 minutes and went 10.11 miles!   A new record for me!  I didn't even realize how long it had been until it beeped to let me know it was in the cool down mode.  I feel great!!!!!!!

I have one more workout on Friday and my race on Saturday.  Next week I will ride Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday because we have to go to Team Champs on Thursday.  That means a 5 hour bus ride north.  I will see if I can get some sort of workout in on one or two of the days we are up there.  I may be able to on at least one day.

Now I have to ton of stuff to get done here in the office.  Of course some of it has to be done on a program that seems to be not working at the moment, but oh well, I'll make due.

I'm just feel so good right now!!!!!!!!
